What a Start to Radiothon!
$1,430 raised on day one! What a wonderful result, and what a day. The atmosphere at 3ZZZ was just magic.
A huge thank you to everyone who called in, donated, volunteered and helped make our first Radiothon show such a success. It was lovely to hear from so many familiar names who have supported Glór na nGael over the years.
Studio 5 was packed with people of all ages, and there was a real buzz in the room. We had fantastic live music from Cora Browne and Pat Evans, including I Wish I Was Back Home in Derry. Cora also told us about the fabulous Lake School of Celtic Music, Song and Dance and encouraged everyone to sign up.
We were also treated to a tin whistle performance from a young member of Ceoltóirí Naarm, followed by his mum singing My Lagan Love. Just wonderful!
The excitement wasn't confined to our studio. Someone from the Armenian programme couldn't believe the vibe and excitement, and loved the live music. Meanwhile, in another room, 25 aspiring broadcasters were being trained by Eugene, the legend himself, including members of 3ZZZ's newest language group, the Pasifika Broadcasting Group.
And that's what makes 3ZZZ so special. It's about music, language, culture, connection and giving communities a voice. We're proud that Irish Radio Melbourne is part of it. The Irish show always punches above its weight, but Radiothon is also a chance to support the smaller language groups and help the whole station thrive.
We're off to a great start, but we're not stopping at $2,000! You can donate throughout October, and our special call-in and donate shows continue on Sunday 18 October, Saturday 24 October and Sunday 25 October.

Go raibh míle maith agaibh to everyone who got behind us. The generosity, the music and the community spirit made it a day to remember. Let's keep it going!
